All you need to know before the Inter-American Conference 2023

The deadline for conference registration and hotel reservations is May 5, 11:59 PM Bahamas time. This is the final deadline according to the IFRC statutes and the agreement signed with the Atlantis Hotel. After that, the hotel room charge per night will go up considerably.

How do I registrate?

Each Red Cross society participating in the conference will appoint an official delegation to represent them. The team will consist of a group of one to three people, including a youth representative.

Others may attend without being part of the official delegation, and all must pay the participation fee. The process for defining the delegation is decided by each Red Cross society.

Each Red Cross society will register the members of their delegation on the same website where they register to participate in the General Assembly and statutory meetings. Here is the link. This registration is for the conference and does not include hotel reservations. Lodging must be booked separately, as explained below.

The deadline for registration is Friday, May 5, 2023.

How do I pay the registration fee?

Each person participating in person must pay a registration fee. The cost varies depending on criteria such as the number of members in the delegation and the amount of the scale provided by the Red Cross Society to the IFRC. The fee for each country can be found at this link or by writing to iac@ifrc.org

When paying your participation fees, please ask your bank to include the amount necessary to offset the bank transfer fees so that the Bahamas Red Cross Society receives the FULL amount of the participation fee.

To finalize your delegation's registration, remember to make the registration payment through the Bahamas Red Cross account.

How do I book my flight and lodging?

Flight

Each Red Cross society is responsible for reserving and paying for airfare for each person in their delegation, including the youth representative. The youth meeting will be on Monday, June 5, and the Conference will be on Tuesday, June 6 and Wednesday, June 7, all day, and on Thursday, June 8, until 2 p.m. Reservations can be made with the provider of your choice.

Hotel

Each Red Cross Society is responsible for reserving and paying the room for each person in their delegation. They must do so no later than Friday, May 5 on the Atlantis Hotel website, indicating that they will be attending the Red Cross Conference. You can also do it through this link

Food

Hotel accommodation includes breakfast service. The conference organization covers lunches, dinners and snacks during breaks in the sessions. Additional expenses are the responsibility of each participant.

VISA

The Bahamas visa policy is relatively relaxed. If it is indicated that your country of citizenship requires a visa, we will be happy to provide you with the necessary letter of invitation to apply for your visa at the Consular Section of the Bahamas Embassy in your respective country or the nearest country. Contact Ms. Alicia Pinder at lpinder@bahamasredcross.org for more information.

Be sure to apply for a visa at least 2 weeks prior to your intended date of entry.

Countries that require a U.S. visa for travel through the U.S. must also obtain that travel document in advance of travel.
