MIGRATION AND SOCIAL INCLUSION IN PERU

We are Community: Audiovisual in the Classroom as a Tool for Inclusion

This initiative seeks to make available to the educational community the necessary tools so that they become the authors of their own stories, and that, through audiovisuals, creativity and new technologies, they can strengthen their knowledge about migration and inclusion. social.

This initiative is carried out within the framework of migration actions in Peru, in coordination with La Combi-Arte Rodante, and with the support of the UN Refugee Agency, and the European Union.

2019

We work directly in two schools in Lima, Peru. Lima concentrates the highest percentage of the Venezuelan population settled in the country. 

 

2020

In 2020 we decided to scale up the experience and train teachers in Metropolitan Lima, in this way not only would capacities be installed in different schools in the capital, but would also reach a greater number of students._cc781905-5cde-3194-bb3b- 136bad5cf58d_

In total, 47 teachers were trained in the use of audiovisuals and ICTs to be able to cover migration and inclusion issues in the classroom; Of this group, seven teachers were followed up so that they could apply what they had learned with their students.

Community Murals: Painting an Inclusive City

In 2020, three murals were developed in different parts of the city of Lima, murals that spoke of inclusion, migration and gender, and where the voices of the migrant and host communities were represented._cc781905-5cde-3194-bb3b- 136bad5cf58d_

To guarantee community participation, online focus groups and surveys were carried out, where migrants and locals shared their thoughts and feelings on different topics.

Cuerda Firme is a program implemented by La Tarumba, in coordination with IFRC and with the support of the UN Refugee Agency and the European Union. This program seeks to develop the socio-emotional skills of migrant and local youth through theatre, circus and music.
